Liverpool Loves is dubbed “The People’s Festival” – it’s an annual series of public events that celebrate the very best of life across the Liverpool City Region and was created by the ideas, contributions and commitment of its citizens. The festival takes place on the first weekend in August and has been running now for the last three years.
As an example of what we can do, we created this project in 2015 and have run it in-house each year since, with a diverse and enigmatic programme that offers something for everybody. It focusses on showcasing amazing independent businesses; our colourful arts & culture community, a thriving food and drink scene, outstanding health and wellbeing organisations – and the infamous personality and charisma of this jewel in the North.
This not-for-profit, free to attend event was created to bring together communities from all walks of life to promote civic pride, inclusion and to generate a positive social impact. With fantastic success!
It attracts a significant attendance of people from across the LCR, North West and other areas of the UK – generating a massive boost to the local visitor economy and supporting thousands of jobs for the city in the process. Our policy to employ local people and to award as many contracts and opportunities to local independent businesses as possible also contributes to these positive outcomes, alongside fostering entrepreneurialism and developing the talent and potential of our city as we look towards a bright future.
